Need to hire more specialist that can answer questions. Line is always busy and it always seems to getting a run around. If president Obama can't create some extra jobs then the angency should outsource to China or India to save money

Provide an Interactive Career Pathing Tool on USAJobs.gov

We've all heard the expression "they come for the mission but they leave because of the managers". Some call this line of sight, but it would make sense to have an interactive Career Pathing Tool on USAJobs.gov. Career Pathing Tools are a great way to allow potential candidates the opportunity to explore their future with your agency. Candidates, especially millennials, want to see what the rewards are for a commitment ...more »

Remove Copyright from LRP Publications

LRP Publications have created some outstanding products and applications such as CyberFEDS, Smart Answers for Federal Managers, Federal Personnel Guide, .etc.

All of the materials and applications from LRP are copyrighted.

Recommend OPM work with LRP Publications to remove the copyright requirements and make LRP products available to every Federal Employee and Manager.

No feedback

I applied for several positions of which I had the qualifications, the experience and education including a masters degree, and I have never been nvited to an interview. Of the federal supervisors I have met socially through friends, I have found these supervisors have no formal education and the feds are using these type of people who select & hire and are less inclined to hire people who are better educated than they ...more »

IMPROVE OPM RESPONSIVENESS TO CITIZENS AND FEDS: Job App OF 612

For goodness sake, come into the 21st century and redesign the gov't job app form to be USER FRIENDLY. AT A MINIMUM, DO THESE THINGS: 1. Acknowledge people's busy lives & allow SAVE feature so applicants can work on it when all info is available and they have snippets of time. 2. Allow enough space for text entry in all fields. Section C Item 9, Section E, Section F, Section G are currently useless. Current set-up ...more »

Shareable E-Learning

As most of our agencies (Federal, State and Local) suffer drastic cuts to funding, one of the first things to be eliminated is training. Unfortunately, the elimination of these essential services not only brings down employee morale, but also also exposes many of our agencies to huge liabilities. With technological advances in e-learning technology and the standardization of delivery methods (thanks to DoD and ADL's ...more »

Strategic Plan for Diversity and Inclusion

I've heard that OPM is working on developing a diversity and inclusion strategic plan for the federal government, and that representatives from several federal agenices are involved. I would like to suggest that involvement in that effort be expanded to include people outside the government (for example: Shirley Davis, Director of Diversity Initiatives at the Society for Human Resources Management). Also, I'd like to ...more »

Increase Collaboration B/W Job Seekers & Federal Recruiters

I would encourage OPM to leverage existing or create new collaboration vehicles to increase collaboration between job seekers and federal recruiters. Often the two groups are very disconnected although there is basic contact information (email/phone number) on job descriptions. Through collaboration, some of the same questions can be answered once and create repositories of knowledge. See business.gov as an interesting ...more »

Consider Field Activities

The OPM website hosts a lot of great information about approved programs. But when new program ideas are being considered, it is typically worked through the departments and agencies within the Washington, DC area. However, many of those departments and agencies have organizations/employees in field sites and information and solicitation of ideas rarely is requested or shared with those units. Similarly, the FEBs and ...more »

FED should allow employees to buy disability insurance

I am a Fed employee and I had to take unpaid leave last year after having a C-section. There is no paid maternity leave for Fed employees. The Fed also does not offer it's employees short term disability insurance for these types of things. But here's the real shocker: we are not allowed to buy short term disability from other providers. Companies like AFLAC are not allowed to sell short term disability policies to ...more »

Other OpenGov Ideas & Information Resources

Rather than post each of my "OpenGov" Ideas at 27 different websites, I have posted them at the GSA's website (since they are in the forefront of the OpenGov initiative). So, by this notice, the members of the OpenGov Team for your agency have been informed of those ideas. (At least, now, you can't say you were unaware of them.) http://opengsa.ideascale.com/a/pmd/29640-6960 ALSO -- Your OpenGov Team members, ...more »
